Walter Elias Disney
Walter Elias (Walt) Disney was born on December 5, 1901 in Chicago, Illinois. He
was born into a middle-class family, and was one of five children. He grew up in
Marceline, Missouri, and began art and drawing at a young age. Walt was a boy with big dreams. He loved drawing and animation. As Walt got older, he began to study art and drawing in High School. In addition to drawing, Disney loved to act and perform; his father, however, was stern and very unsupportive, so Disney was forced to perform against his father's will.
Walt tried to enlist in the army , but was rejected for being to young. So instead he drove the ambulance during the war.
When he returned home from France, he began a career in commercial
art, and made his own company, "Laugh-O-Grams" before he was even twenty-two.
Unfortunately, they went bankrupt; Walt still refused to give up on his dream.
He moved to California, where he and His brother, Roy, formed a studio in their
Uncle's garage and began to work on The Alice Comedies. The feature was
a success.Through his business, Walt ended up marrying one of his employees, Lillian, on July 13,1925.
Walt and Lillian had two daughters, Diane and Sharon. Although Walt was becoming big in the Hollywood industry, he didn't socialize much. He was definitely more of a family man, and he spent time with them whenever he could. Walt had always drew and when he finally believed he had something it was soon taken away from him. Oswald was Walt's first creation, a rabbbit, but instead of letting that demoralize him he started from point one all over again.Shortly into their marriage with the help of Lillian , Walt had created a new character a mouse : Mickey
Mouse. Mickey Mouse was soon going to change the whole world. In 1928 Mickey's first debut was in Steamboat Willie.This was a major hit with American families. Soon enough Walt began to produce more and more cartoons growing into movies. The company began to expand and it was going to change the world little by little.
