How were American Families affected by Disney?
Walt Disney came up with cartoons and movies during a time in which Americans needed some distraction. The Great Depression put parents in a position in which all they thought about was how badly their children were gonna be affected by this event. Parents also needed some help when World War 2 became the main topic of conversation in American households. But fortunately Disney came up with Mickey Mouse and gave parents an exit out of their worries. Children who got the opportunity to experience Disney's creations became happier than ever because in Mickey they found a new friend. Parents with their arms wide open let Disney and his marvelous creations into their house. Back then Americans used to tell their children folkloric tales, but as soon as Mickey hit TV there was no going back. Soon Mickey Mouse became the children's idol.
While the Great Depression was going on Disney released Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, the film made $1,499,000. During World War 2 Disney released Dumbo and Bambi, two of the many recognized films that still stand today.
Walt began to create movies that could touch families and get everybody to enjoy what they were watching. Walt had a family of himself and he was going to create a fantasy land that people from all ages could enjoy and have fun together. It is there in that magical place called Disneyland that many children dream of going one day.
